/ Snap! /

/Snap!/ is participatory day-long game based workshop done in collaboration with Mohamed Jaffar Ali, with the goal of introducing economic principles in an engaging and accessible way, with the intention of allowing a more informed discussion around existing and possible models.

We started by repurposing the popular card game Snap! as a metaphor for existing modes of production in capitalism, introducing notions of value and scarcity.
We gradually introduced new elements as means of creating more complex scenarios (such as trade and credit), closer to current economics.

When players felt comfortable with the game we proceeded to introduce rules that are in contradiction to economic dogmas and allow players to look at novel economic systems based on abundance of elements as opposed to scarcity. Through this approach, players could question the social relations that might arise through these new rules.

The workshop was held on 24th June 2016 at The Rabbits Road Institute in collaboration with the Alternative School of Economics.
