My name is Rodrigo Lebrun, I’m a Brazilian-born artist and researcher living in Paris.
I use humour, parody and multilayered storytelling to trigger conversations about contemporary conditions, touching upon the environment, consumerism, identity, economics, popular and high culture.
I make things with computers and by hand. My practice changes continuously as a result of my prolific understanding of technology, my enthusiasm for materials and my personal quest in trying to conceptually subvert both. These can be manifested in sculptural work, multichannel video installations, participatory games, short stories and code-based artwork.
My pieces invite the viewer to participate in an active dialogue with the work, with rejection also being a valid reaction.
My work has been exhibited in the UK, Estonia, Ireland, Italy and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
I previously lectured at London College of Communication and I’ve also given talks and organised workshops in the UK, Brazil and Italy.
Upcoming engagements for 2024/25 include a 3-month residency at the reputable EKWC centre for contemporary ceramics in the Netherlands, confirmed participation at C14 Contemporary Ceramics Show in Paris.
